Introduction
to the Union of Finance Personnel in Europe (ufe):
1. Ufe is the only organisation representing the trade-union
interests of employees from all ranks of the tax and customs
administration authorities
of Europe. It brings together more than 400.000 members from 40 member
unions in 20 countries (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark,
Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iseland, Ireland, Italy,
Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden,
Switzerland
and the United Kingdom).
2.
UFE is
represented in the European Parliament, Commission and Economic and
Social Committee. Its task is to convince the European
institutions of the key role played by the members of the financial
administration authorities in the European integration process.
Harmonisation
of direct taxes, strengthening the fight against tax and economic crime
on a supranational basis, improving the effectiveness of the European
tax and customs administration authorities with better staffing levels
and more attractive working conditions are as much kernels of the UFE’s
constitution as harmonised training and exchange of personnel.
The Committee,
the highest decision-making body of UFE, adopted a ‘Charter for the
financial administration authorities in Europe’ in Bonn on
9 September 1997. It is available on the homepage in English, French and
Italian.
3.
UFE is also an
information exchange for its member unions. We are aware that the only
way we can conduct our trade-union activities effectively
at national level is by being informed of the conditions in other
European countries. UFE is also an information exchange for its member
unions.

Any national
association in Europe bringing together employees from tax and customs
administration authorities or from other financial
administration sectors can become a member association of UFE.
